Our
Story
Hi - I’m Alana CPDT-KA!
Like most trainers, I started my journey with a dog who was a lot more than I bargained for. My rescue Jana (Great Dane x Bull Arab) came to me with an incredibly high prey drive, dog-directed aggression, no food drive what-so-ever and absolute love for independence.
My journey training her has gone through every and all avenues possible - but the number 1 thing that truly helped us go from absolutely chaotic walks coming home in tears to looking forward to exploring new places together…was building a wonderful relationship with her.
Alongside training Jana, I began my career in the animal welfare industry working in a boarding facility initially as a kennel attendant then becoming an assistant dog trainer before becoming a dog trainer. Working in this fast-paced facility, I had the amazing opportunity to work with many different breeds and dog personalities, gaining over 2000+ hours of hands-on training experience.
Whilst working, I also undertook study, gaining my Cert IV in Companion Animal Services and Cert IV in Animal Behaviour and Training. I have since been able to fully engross myself in the dog training world - including being a volunteer instructor at Sydney All Breeds Dog Club in Concord and becoming a committee member of the APDT association. As of April 2024, I also achieved my CPDT-KA title through CCPDT.
At my core, my passion is with dogs and helping owners build a harmonious relationship with them, through scientific-based methodologies and showing the value in continuous training. For this reason, I am super passionate in helping regulate this industry by committing to continuous education and staying up-to-date with new scientific information that comes out each day.
